Patton K. Jones, vice chairman of Newmark Knight Frank’s Central Texas office, is responsible for the Austin and San Antonio conventional multifamily capital markets business which includes land and multifamily investment sales, equity and debt. Mr. Jones oversees business development, market research, and all aspects of property disposition. The collective business lines produce roughly $2 billion in sales annually. In recognition of being the top producing broker for the multifamily investment sales team, Mr. Jones has been named NKF’s National Multihousing Broker of the Year every year since 2015.

Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Jones was co-founder of an aviation parts company. He lived and worked in London and Hong Kong and was responsible for sales in 33 countries. The company grew 9,200 percent in three years and was the winner of numerous business awards - ranked #1 in "Houston's 100 Fastest-Growing Businesses" in 1999 by the Houston Chronicle, ranked #7 in Dun & Bradstreet and Entrepreneur Magazine's "Hot 100, America's Fastest-Growing New Businesses 1999," and scored one of the Aviation Industries' best web sites rated by Forbes Magazine in 2000. Additionally, Mr. Jones's past work experience includes single-family patio home development, energy trading, and serving as an international sales manager for a Fortune 500 tech firm. Ryan Lang, vice chairman with Newmark Knight Frank and head of its Student Housing division, spearheads best-in-class investment sales and advisory services on behalf of its clients. He has represented many of the largest institutional, public and private real estate companies in the country and has closed approximately $6.7 billion in real estate transactions.

Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Lang was vice president and co-leader of CBRE’s National Student Housing Group. In 2010, he joined New Orleans-based Stirling Properties as director of multifamily investments. While at Stirling, Mr. Lang specialized in the sale of conventional and student housing assets and was recognized as the top investment sales broker at Stirling Properties for 2011 and 2012. Mr. Lang began his real estate career in New York City at Marcus & Millichap where he gained experience in seller representation, acquisitions, and investment underwriting. During his first year there, his investment team was recognized as the number one top-earning team in the office and he was also awarded the Pace Setter award for 2008.

Mr. Lang was named to the NKF Chairman’s Circle in recognition of being one of the top producing brokers in the entire company and he regularly speaks at acclaimed student housing events throughout North America and Europe. Mr. Lang has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and on National Public Radio for his expertise and leadership within the sector. Mr. Lang serves on the board of directors of the National Brain Tumor Society and received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Florida.

Matt Greer, joined Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) as executive managing director in 2016. He has worked in real estate in Texas since 1994 and spent the past fifteen years in the mortgage banking business, having originated over $4 billion in loans. Product type expertise includes multifamily, student housing, manufactured housing, commercial and retail properties with various structures including permanent, bridge, equity and mezzanine debt financing. Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Greer was with Berkadia in Austin for nine years. Before that he was a partner at AMS Real Estate (AMS), a real estate services firm where he launched an underwriting group that worked for many of the CMBS industry’s largest originators. Prior to his tenure with AMS, Mr. Greer was a vice president at Simmons Vedder Partners where he was responsible for the development and marketing of the company’s office division.

Mr. Greer is a Certified Commercial Investment Manager (CCIM) and is active in the Mortgage Bankers Association, the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics.

Andrew Shih is an executive managing director with Newmark Knight Frank's Manufactured Housing group which he co-founded with Todd Fletcher. He is a member of the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) and his team has been awarded the MHI Broker of the Year for the last six years (2013-2018).

Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Shih was a vice president at a national brokerage company where he focused on new client development, financial underwriting, marketing and escrow management for multifamily transactions. He has been involved in the multi-housing brokerage industry since 2002, closing over 290 transactions totaling over $1.6 billion. His prior real estate experience also includes researching and analyzing multifamily agency securities for the Wall Street commercial mortgage-backed securities trading desk of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and analyzing residential mortgage mergers and acquisitions while part of the finance team at Chemical Bank.

Mr. Shih received a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science degree, graduating with distinction from Cornell University. Prior to moving to Austin, he was born, raised, educated and worked in New York.

Mr. Young specializes in value-add non-institutional assets. Patrick Short, is a managing director in Newmark Knight Frank’s Multifamily Capital Markets debt and structured finance group in the company’s Austin office where he is responsible for spearheading best-in-class debt originations, joint venture/equity placement and investor relations. Mr. Short specializes in originating debt with government-sponsored enterprises Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA; insurance companies; conduits/CMBS banks and credit unions in addition to arranging and structuring joint venture partnerships. Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Short was an originator for a regional bank for four years before he successfully opened the Austin office of BMC Capital, LP in 2006 representing private and institutional investors.

With more than 17 years of experience in real estate finance, Mr. Short has extensive experience with a variety of income-producing property types including multifamily, student housing, manufactured housing (MHC), commercial and retail properties.

Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Dickson served as the Director of Asset Management for Aspen Heights Partners where he held various roles within the company’s capital markets, investor relations and asset management teams. While there, he led his team in providing life cycle strategic direction and business plan execution for a student housing and multifamily portfolio of development projects and acquisitions valued at over $1 billion. Throughout his career, he has been involved in nearly $750 million of dispositions, including equity recapitalizations and asset sales. Prior to his tenure at Aspen Heights, Mr. Dickson held commercial banking roles with BBVA Compass, American Bank, N.A., and Guaranty Bank.

Mr. Dickson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in real estate finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.

Trent Houchin, is a director for Newmark Knight Frank’s multifamily debt and & structured finance team in Austin where he is responsible for spearheading the Student Housing debt and structured finance platform. Mr. Houchin works closely with Newmark Knight Frank’s Student Housing group and specializes in providing best-in-class financing and capital structure solutions for student housing assets across the country, including permanent, bridge, equity and mezzanine debt financing. Mr. Houchin’s team leverages direct licenses with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as well as industry-wide relationships with Life Insurance Companies, conduits/CMBS, banks and alternative debt executions to provide the most attractive financing options available.

Mr. Houchin began his tenure with Newmark Knight Frank with the Student Housing investment sales group where he was responsible for the comprehensive analysis of over $8 billion of investment-grade student housing assets. In addition, he was actively involved throughout the entire disposition process from the production of marketing materials and reports, to assistance through due diligence. He worked closely with some of the largest student housing owners in the country.

Mr. Houchin graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, majoring in finance.

Jack Brett is the associate director for Newmark Knight Frank's Student Housing group where his primary responsibilities include facilitating client relationships, business development, pricing and marketing strategy, and actively engaging with clients throughout the entirety of the disposition process. Since joining ARA Newmark, Mr. Brett has participated in over 100 closings, $3.5 billion in financial modeling, and over 700 valuations. He most recently worked with ARA Newmark’s Affordable Housing group, servicing a wide array of clients that included private and institutional developers, syndicators and direct Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) investors on disposition strategies. Mr. Brett is an industry veteran with substantial experience in all facets of the sale, valuation, and development process.

Prior to joining ARA Newmark, Mr. Brett worked with a Houston-based consulting firm where he performed financial reporting, analysis, modeling, and budgeting.

Mr. Brett is from Manchester, England and regularly visits the UK to source emerging capital from overseas and leverage existing relationships within the sector. Mr. Brett graduated magna cum laude from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance, economics and marketing. He was awarded the outstanding graduate award in marketing and is a member of the Delta Mu Delta and Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Societies.

Michelle Davidson, marketing manager, joined Newmark Knight Frank in 2013 bringing ten years of commercial real estate, marketing, and graphic design experience to the team. In her current role, Ms. Davidson leads the marketing team and directs all marketing, advertising, public relations and market research efforts for the Newmark Knight Frank Central Texas office and the national Student Housing and Manufactured Housing groups. She is responsible for the day-to-day production of proposals, offering memorandums, marketing collateral, flyers, marketing videos, and research reports.

Ms. Davidson joined Newmark Knight Frank after serving as marketing manager for Barshop & Oles Company, a privately-owned full service commercial real estate development and management company. While there, she was responsible for the day-to-day production of property marketing collateral and the development and execution of advertising and marketing campaigns while simultaneously assisting the leasing and property management teams with transactions for the retail portfolio. Prior to joining Barshop & Oles, Ms. Davidson served as the marketing coordinator for Grubb & Ellis Company where she was responsible for the firm’s daily marketing functions. Working with the Austin team, she ensured compliance with corporate national branding standards and oversaw the production and design of all marketing and promotional collateral for new business, office, industrial, and retail leasing.

Ms. Davidson graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with honors and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She is a volunteer with Austin Pets Alive!, a Texas Exes Life Member, and a licensed notary public for the State of Texas.

Kelsey Carroll, marketing coordinator, joined Newmark Knight Frank in 2016, bringing seven years of marketing and graphic design experience to the team. In her role, she is responsible for helping compile and produce in-house offering documents, video presentations, advertising design and aiding in the press release process for office transactions. She works closely with the Central Texas multihousing team, the national Student Housing and Manufactured Housing groups. 

Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Ms. Carroll worked her way up from marketing assistant to communication and design lead at HTS, a commercial HVAC manufacturer’s representative. There, she helped grow the marketing department from a two-person operation in Texas to a four-person team serving their global offices. Ms. Carroll was responsible for all print and web design materials, email marketing, social media marketing, maintaining the company website, blogging technical content, writing press releases, tradeshow displays and signage and was heading up the redesign of the firm’s global website. Working with 60+ sales teams, she maintained brand standards across the company and its sister corporations, helped plan and execute company-wide events and served as the liaison for coordinating printing and shipping of marketing materials. Ms. Carroll also previously worked as a marketing assistant for the School of Information Science and Learning Technology at the University of Missouri for three years where she developed marketing materials, assisted with web design and learned the basics of operating a marketing department.

Ms. Carroll is a Chicago native and graduated from the University of Missouri in 2012 with Magna Cum Laude honors and a Bachelor of Journalism degree.

Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Nguyen worked with an Austin real estate company that specializes in property sales and management in cities within Central Texas. As marketing design lead at the company, Mr. Nguyen’s daily responsibilities included producing all print and web materials, email marketing, direct mail campaigns, WordPress management, signage, billboard design, and ad creation. Mr. Nguyen was also involved in real estate photography and the post-editing process for all aspects of the business. Before entering the real estate field, Mr. Nguyen gained experience during his tenure at Clockwork Studios, a design agency located in San Antonio, Texas.

Mr. Nguyen is from Austin and graduated from Texas State University with Cum Laude honors and a Bachelors of Arts in Communication Design.

Andrew Wilson, is a transaction manager for Newmark Knight Frank’s multifamily debt and structured finance group in Austin where his primary responsibilities include managing all aspects of the transaction process including underwriting, marketing, and closing for Central Texas. Additionally, he assists the team with the origination of construction, interim and permanent debt, mezzanine financing and equity for commercial real estate assets in various stages of the investment cycle including acquisitions, refinances, partnership buyouts and new development. His experience includes over $2 billion in financing for institutional, regional, and private client investors.

Mr. Wilson began his tenure with Newmark Knight Frank as a senior financial analyst for the company’s Affordable Housing group. In that role, he was responsible for overseeing the production and completion of the team’s broker price opinions (BPO’s) and other ad hoc analyses, as well as the team’s marketing materials and marketing analyses. Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Wilson worked for Wentwood Capital Advisors, a Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) asset and fund manager where he helped lead the valuation team in the underwriting of the company's portfolio and was responsible for the underwriting of potential acquisitions. He has experience in underwriting over $6 billion in assets, in both sell-side and buy-side analysis.

Mr. Wilson received his Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) certification and is currently a Level 2 Candidate in his pursuit to become a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from the University of St. Thomas in Houston.

Since joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Goss has been involved in the successful disposition of over $1 billion in multifamily assets. He most recently worked with Newmark Knight Frank’s Central Texas multifamily group, where he focused on underwriting and market research, the creation of marketing materials, and due diligence. Mr. Goss has substantial experience in all facets of the sale, valuation, and development process.

Mr. Goss graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin to obtain a Master of Science degree in finance. He is actively involved as a mentor with Explore Austin, a local non-profit program that provides leadership training, long-term mentoring, and outdoor adventure to underserved youth.

Mr. Dwyer began his tenure with Newmark Knight Frank as an associate for the Land Services group. In that role, he was responsible for land sales in the Austin and San Antonio regions, representing buyers and sellers of all land use types including multifamily, office, industrial, retail, single family housing, seniors housing and affordable housing. Mr. Dwyer managed all aspects of the transaction process from valuation, pricing strategies, marketing, client contact, due diligence and negotiation.

Mr. Dwyer is a native of Austin, Texas. He graduated from Embry-Riddle University in Prescott, Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in global studies.

Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Mr. Borst was an analyst for nation's largest developer, owner, and manager of student housing communities, American Campus Communities. There he was responsible for the financial planning and reporting of the company’s portfolio of 75,000+ wholly-owned beds. Mr. Borst has experience in the asset managing, budgeting, investment underwriting, and forecast planning of over $5 billion of student housing assets across the nation.

Tracey Veal, Associate, senior administrative assistant in Newmark Knight Frank’s Central Texas office, supports the Austin and San Antonio Multifamily Capital Markets teams, who focus on investment sales, equity and debt for conventional multifamily and land. Her duties include the production and distribution of monthly reports for internal and external clients, assisting in budget preparation and control activities, serving as the administrative liaison with internal and external clients on administrative matters related to purchasing, facilities and operations, expense reimbursement, and coordinating travel arrangements.

Prior to joining Newmark Knight Frank, Ms. Veal worked as an executive assistant and special project manager assisting the senior executive officer and various department managers in communicating, coordinating and facilitating the timely completion of projects, activities and meetings. In this role, Ms. Veal created manuals and procedures for multiple internal systems, while also providing training, support and ad hoc reports for a report writing program on the company’s customer database.

Ms. Veal earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Averett University and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Longwood University.
