Doug Andrews - Vice Chairman

Doug Andrews has worked in commercial real estate in Denver and Colorado Springs since 1983. He has been a specialist in apartments and multihousing land since 1991. Within the last ten years, Mr. Andrews has closed more than $5.0 billion in multihousing transactions, representing a list of clients that include Principal Life, Equity Residential Properties Trust, AMLI Residential Trust, BlackRock, The Carmel Companies, Embrey Partners and Simpson Housing. He has been a member of the portfolio disposition teams for Balcor/American Express ($600 million), Archstone Communities ($650 million), Mitsui Real Estate ($225 million) and Jupiter Realty Corp. ($65.5 million). Mr. Andrews  was honored as the Denver Realtor’s Investment Broker of the Year in 2000 and has been the #1 multihousing specialist in Denver for 21 of the last 23 years.

Terrance Hunt - Vice Chairman

Terrance Hunt, vice chairmen for ARA, A Newmark Company, joined the company in 2004 as a principal and has consistently been one of Denver’s top producing multifamily brokers, handling over $7 billion in multifamily transactions. Transacting the largest multifamily property in Colorado history, The Breakers Resort at $350 million, and The Horizons at Rock Creek at $255 million, are among his many accomplishments.

Prior to joining ARA Newmark, Mr. Hunt worked for Grubb & Ellis where he specialized in the sale of multifamily properties. During his tenure there, he became the top producing apartment advisor and broker at Grubb & Ellis nationwide. Mr. Hunt has extensive experience in all types of multifamily and income properties, having been involved with them the majority of his life.

In 2015, Mr. Hunt was the Top Multifamily Broker of the year in Colorado, a designation awarded by NAIOP DMCAR and the DENVER Business Journal. He was also one of top-producing brokers at ARA Newmark. Mr. Hunt has been recognized for his creative deal structuring, having had two of his transactions listed as “The Most Creative Deals of 2009” by Apartment Finance Today Magazine. Mr. Hunt speaks regularly on multifamily and real estate investments and has spoken at the AAMD Economic Conference, CU Economic Conference, Colorado Real Estate Journal Conference, Biz Now Conference and the Downtown Denver Partnership Conference. He has also spoken on these topics to the State Legislature. Mr. Hunt has been featured in numerous local and national publications including the Denver Post, Denver Business Journal, Western Real Estate, MSN, NPR, CPR, ABC 7NEWS, NBC and 9NEWS.

Mr. Hunt earned a degree in finance and real estate from Colorado State University.

Shane Ozment - Vice Chairman

Shane Ozment joined ARA, A Newmark Company in September 2002 and specializes in the marketing and sale of multifamily properties in the metro Denver market.  He is involved in all aspects of the marketing process including valuation, client/prospect contact, contract negotiations and closings. He is consistently recognized by the Denver Metropolitan Commercial Association of Realtors as a Metro Denver Top 10 Apartment Broker.

Prior to joining ARA Newmark, Shane was employed as a stock broker with Morgan Keegan, Inc., and as a financial advisor with Prudential Securities in Portland, Oregon. Mr. Ozment has over 15 year’s experience in securities and investment sales. He received his Master’s Degree in Finance from the University of Colorado and his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Business Administration from the University of the Ozarks.

Steve O'Dell - Executive Managing Director

Steve O’Dell is a 33-year veteran of the commercial real estate industry, including 20 years as a high-producing broker and 11 years as a commercial brokerage managing director. In the past 15 years Steve has specialized in the sale of multi-housing land, resulting in the sale of over 18,000 units of development land in the Denver-metro area. Steve has a thorough understanding of land development and entitlement, having also participated as a principal in land development. While specializing in the sale of multi-housing land, he has successfully sold low, medium, high density and transit oriented developments of apartments, condominiums, senior and affordable housing. Chris Cowan - Executive Managing Director

Chris Cowan, executive managing director for ARA, A Newmark Company’s Denver, Colorado-based land services team focuses on urban infill development and suburban land sales for all multihousing and mixed-use product types. He is involved in all aspects of the marketing process including valuation, client and prospect contacts, contract negotiations and closing. Over the past 13 years Mr. Cowan has been involved in the sale of land for the development of over 16,000 units with a total consideration in excess of $350 million. Mr. Cowan is widely seen as a leader in his market with an unprecedented amount of knowledge relating to land brokerage and multihousing development.

Kevin McKenna - Executive Managing Director

Colorado Springs, CO

Kevin McKenna joined ARA, A Newmark Company in 2007 as a broker focused on the Colorado Springs market. Prior to joining ARA Newmark, Kevin held successful brokerage positions with Grubb & Ellis, Marcus & Millichap, and Cushman and Wakefield in Colorado and California.

Throughout his career Kevin has sold over 7,000 apartment units in Colorado Springs with a total consideration in excess of $500 million. These transactions have spanned from 10 units to over 300 units for a full spectrum of clients that include private individuals, nonprofits, institutions, lenders, and special servicers.

Kevin was born and raised in Colorado Springs and graduated cum laude from the University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in Finance.

Justin Hunt - Executive Managing Director

Justin Hunt joined ARA, A Newmark Company in 2008 bringing with him 14 years of real estate experience. His background includes property management, private investment activities, as well as a management background in lending, underwriting, and compliance. While at ARA Newmark, Justin’s focus has been on the marketing and disposition of multi-family assets for private clients throughout Metro Denver as well as several mountain communities. Mr. Hunt is consistently named one of the top multi-family brokers in Colorado and in 2014 he was appointed to the DMCAR Board of Directors.

Prior to joining ARA Newmark, Justin was Regional Manager at GMAC Mortgage where he managed operations for 18 states producing $2.5 billion in transactions annually. Justin was raised in Colorado and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University with concentrations in Finance and Real Estate.

Andy Hellman - Senior Managing Director

Andy Hellman joined ARA, A Newmark Company in 2005 where he soon became both a director and analyst for the Colorado, Arizona, and Utah markets. During his time at ARA Newmark, Andy has valued in excess of $10 billion in apartment properties and became a leading resource for Colorado's apartment market. Most recently, Mr. Hellman joined Terrance Hunt, Shane Ozment and Justin Hunt on the Private Client Services team and specializes in the marketing and sale of multifamily investments 200 units and below throughout Colorado's front range and mountain territories. Since joining the Private Client Services team in 2011, Andy has helped with the sale of over $70 million of apartment communities.

Andy was born and raised in Denver and graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2004, with a Bachelor's degree in Communications and minor emphasis in Business.

Spencer Bradley - Director

Spencer Bradley joined ARA, A Newmark Company’s Private Client Team to focus exclusively on South Central and West Denver, specifically the University of Denver area, Englewood, Littleton, Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, Edgewater and Golden. With over ten years’ experience building and managing sales teams, Spencer’s consultative focus on understanding the unique goals of each of his clients has enabled him to consistently deliver superior results.

Spencer was born and raised in Colorado Springs and grew up in a real estate family. He graduated from Kenyon College with a Bachelor’s of Arts and earned an MBA from Tulane University.

Robert Bratley - Director

Denver, CO

Robert Bratley, director, joined ARA, A Newmark Company in 2011 as a research analyst providing data, marketing materials and information on $1.5 billion in multifamily assets and his experience has made him a primary resource on Colorado’s multifamily industry. Most recently Mr. Bratley became an associate director on the local Private Client Services team where he specializes on central Denver properties. Since joining the team in 2013, he has sold more than $150 million in assets located in central Denver, many of which set pricing records.

Before joining ARA Newmark, Mr. Bratley was a real estate analyst specializing in market studies, appraisals and rent comparability studies for both market-rate and income-restricted multifamily properties. In that role, he traveled to 40 markets across the country and completed nearly 200 market studies and appraisals. Mr. Bratley has lived in Colorado since 2006 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Colorado State University, concentrating in finance and real estate.


Saul Levy - Director

Colorado Springs, CO

Saul Levy, director, joined ARA, A Newmark Company’s Colorado ­Springs team in 2013 and has since been involved in excess of $200 million in multifamily transactions comprising more than 2,500 units. Mr. Levy specializes in working with private client apartment owners in Colorado Springs and additionally works closely with Kevin McKenna on larger multifamily sales in southern Colorado. He is passionate and dedicated to ensuring the optimal pricing and terms for his clients as well as exceeding their distinct expectations. Mr. Levy is a Colorado native and graduated from Colorado College in Colorado Springs with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics.

Bryon Stevenson - Associate

Bryon Stevenson, associate, is focused on land brokerage for boutique urban infill development land sales for all multifamily product types. He works to source niche development sites for private capital clients and maximize land values for sellers.  Mr. Stevenson also focuses on the for-sale condo and townhome market within metro Denver. Prior to joining ARA Newmark he worked for a multifamily developer where he sourced new development deals, performed financial underwriting and market research on new and prospective development projects. Mr. Stevenson was involved in over $250 million dollars of new multifamily development throughout the Midwest. He is originally from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago and received a bachelor of science degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. Mr. Stevenson is very active within the real estate industry and is currently a member of ULI and YLG and holds a leadership position within the Indiana University Real Estate Alumni Network.

Amanda Meldrum - Transaction Manager

Denver, CO

As a Transaction Manager for the ARA, A Newmark Company Colorado team, Amanda Meldrum works with Jeff Hawks, Doug Andrews, Shane Ozment, Terrance Hunt, and Anna Stevens with a primary focus on large apartment communities in the metro Denver area. Prior to joining ARA Newmark, Amanda worked as a Due Diligence Analyst for Archstone, a national multi-family REIT. Amanda has been directly involved in the due diligence, underwriting and closing of $779 million in multifamily transactions. Amanda was born and raised in Colorado and earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Colorado State University, concentrating in Finance and Real Estate.

Patrick Scanlan - Transaction Manager

Denver, CO

Patrick Scanlan is a transaction manager for ARA, A Newmark Company’s private client group in Denver where his primary responsibilities include managing all aspects of the transaction process including underwriting, marketing and closing. Additionally, Mr. Scanlan assists with the origination of construction, interim and permanent debt, mezzanine financing and equity for commercial real estate assets in various stages of the investment cycle including acquisitions, refinances, partnership buyouts and new development.

Prior to joining ARA Newmark, Mr. Scanlan was an assistant vice president at Colorado Business Bank. Before that he was a development associate for a boutique developer in the Denver metropolitan area.

Mr. Scanlan earned a Master of Science degree in real estate and construction management from the University of Denver where he graduated with honors. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in leadership studies and business administration from the University of Richmond where he graduated with high distinction.
